About Me
I am a referral-based tutor that specializes in STEM tutoring for students in high school and university. Being referral-based means that I gain new students through referrals, and not advertisements. These referrals come from my former students or from the tutoring companies I work with.Being referral-based also means that my ability to stay in business relies on the success of my current students. It is extremely important to me that all of my students finish with a complete understanding of the subject, and feel supported and confident in their studies.
This website, and the associated email used for tutoring services, uses the label "TutorBug". Tutorbug is not a business name, and is not used for any purpose other than to act as a domain name for the services provided. All services are provided by myself, as a sole proprietorship.Statement from the Chamber of Commerce, FL: A sole proprietorship is a business entity that refers to a business that is unincorporated and has a single owner. This is the simplest possible structure to set up a business. While there can only be one owner, a sole proprietorship can have employees and obtain an Employer Identification Number (EIN). Non-live Review, or "Paperwork Sessions"
($40 / hr)
Non-live review sessions, or "paperwork" sessions, are commissioned notes sheets, guides, or practice problems reviewing specific topics. They do not occur over a video call, but the date and time you receive them is still scheduled ahead of time. Many students use these to ask for handwritten and personalized practice exams.During a paperwork session, I can:
Review homework assignments before or after you turn them in.
Review quizzes or exams that have already been turned in and graded by your instructor.
Create custom worksheets, practice-quizzes, or practice-exams, which always include a solutions guide and key.
Write out step-by-step guides on how to solve certain problem types.Here are the limitations of a paperwork session:
I will not do your homework for you. However, I'm happy to give you sample questions based on your homework, so that you can practice similar concepts! I can also help outline the steps of a homework problem for you, if you are struggling.
I will not give answers to quizzes or exams that have not been already turned in and graded. I am more than happy to look over a quiz to see the subject or question types asked, and can use that information to help you review.
To schedule a paperwork session, please contact me with the subject or documents you would like help with. It is rare for paperwork sessions to take more than an hour, and therefore it is generally safe to assume that the above prices are a flat rate. All payment must be completed before the documents are returned.
College Preparatory Sessions
($50 / hr)
College preparatory sessions are exactly what they sound like; sessions to help prepare high school students for college. This includes help with college applications, scholarship and fellowship applications, and general assistance with the college preparation process.
College Advisory Session
($120 / hr)
This appointment type is only available for students currently studying to receive their Associate's or Bachelor's degrees, who have already spoken with their university advisors. It includes a 2-year or 4-year plan, a spreadsheet of the classes required to graduate and when each course should be taken.This appointment type is recommended for students who have struggled getting their advisor's help, students with unique circumstances, and students who are trying to avoid taking extra semesters in their degree(s). Students must have access to their course catalog and degree requirements at the time of the session.To schedule a College Advisory Session, please contact me and we will schedule a (completely free) consultation to see if you are applicable. Two hours are generally recommended but not required.
Don't see your class listed? This list is based on the most common names for courses. If your class isn't listed here, feel free to reach out and I can tell you if I am able to tutor for it. If I'm unable to tutor for your course, I can usually get you in contact with alternative studying and tutoring resources.As a general rule, I can tutor:
Most college math courses up until differential calculus.
Most biology courses, including early medical studies courses (ex. blood banking, cell-medication interactions, autoimmune studies).
All marine science, marine biology, and oceanography courses through a BSc level of education.
Most chemistry courses, including those focusing on cellular interactions or the geological impacts of chemistry.
Policies
Referral Program
If you refer someone to me and they book at least one session, their first session and your next session are both half-off. In addition, prior referral rates carry over for courses at the same level.
Rates and Pricing
I never raise rates for existing clients; the quoted hourly rate is honored per education level continuously throughout a student’s entire enrollment in tutoring. This means that even if my starting rate changes for new students, existing clients will not experience a change in rate.
In addition, the rate paid for tutoring is the only fee due; the notes and materials given to students will always be free.
Refunds
When a client has overpaid, the extra payment will roll forward to the following session(s); refunds will not be given except for in cases of gross overpayment. Please keep an eye on scheduling and payments, especially during the end of each semester!
Scheduling; Repeating Sessions vs. As-Needed Sessions
Repeating sessions are set for the same time and day each week. Unless otherwise discussed, repeating sessions are guaranteed until either the end of the current semester or the student requests a change of schedule. This ensures that a student has a guaranteed tutoring time-slot each week that cannot be booked by anyone else; during midterms and finals season, I am often completely booked out for weeks at a time. For this reason, scheduling repeat sessions is highly recommended (but not required).
Cancellations and Missed Sessions
Per semester*, the first two cancellations that occur with less-than twenty four hours notice are not charged. All following cancellations with a notice of less-than twenty four hours are charged at the full price of a one-hour session. These two free last-minute cancellations renew at the beginning of each semester.
If a student does not reach out to cancel a session, but also does not join the call during the scheduled time, the last-minute cancellation policy is applied in the same way.
After three last-minute cancellations in a row, availability and scheduling will be reviewed and confirmed with the student and/or their family.
* Each new semester is considered to start on January 1st, June 1st, and August 1st.

What should I bring to the first tutoring session?
All you need is a device and an internet connection. Tablets or computers are recommended for their increased screen space, but not required.
Can you accommodate students with unique learning needs?
Yes! If you have specific needs or requests, please reach out and let me know. In addition, if you are currently on an IEP, 504, or have existing accommodations, I can communicate directly with your school's support system to ensure your needs are met in tutoring.

Payment
General Payment Information
Payment is accepted through Zelle, CashApp, and Venmo. Records are kept of all tutoring services and can be requested by clients at any time. In addition, invoices and receipts can be sent with each session, each week, or every-other week. Payment services with automatic billing and invoices are currently in-progress, and will be available beginning in December 2026.I never raise rates for existing clients, except in the case where a student is moving to a higher level (ex. switching from tutoring at the High School level to SAT preparation). In those circumstances, the new rate at that level will match what it initially was when the client first began tutoring services.There are no hidden or additional fees. When study materials are given to students, I only send resources that are free; I will never direct you to websites requiring a subscription or payment.
